From Rock ‘n’ Roll to Red Hot: Discover the Stunning Transformation of the Virgin Las Vegas

The Virgin Las Vegas is a fairly new hotel that stands on the site that was once the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The hotel was acquired by Virgin Hotels in 2018 and underwent a significant renovation to become the amazing property it is today. With its location just off the Las Vegas Strip, and its hip and boldly designed accommodations, the Virgin hotel offers guests a memorable experience.

ACCOMMODATIONS AND DECOR OF VIRGIN LAS VEGAS

The first thing that caught my attention as I entered the hotel was the vibrant decor. The interior is decked out in shades of red and white, with a mix of modern and vintage elements that give the space a unique and eclectic feel. The lobby area is spacious and welcoming, with plenty of seating areas and a cozy fireplace that sets the tone for a relaxing stay. The check-in process was seamless, and the staff was friendly and accommodating, making me feel right at home.

The hotel has over 1,500 guest rooms and suites, all of which have been designed with comfort and style in mind. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed, with comfortable beds, plush linens, and modern amenities such as flat-screen TVs, high-speed internet, and in-room safes. The bathrooms are equally impressive, with marble floors, rainfall showerheads, and luxurious toiletries.

There are three towers at Virgin Las Vegas, Canyon, Opal and Ruby. I have stayed in two of them in two different levels of accommodations. My favorite was the Ruby Grand Corner Chamber King. The room was elegantly designed and spacious at 757sf, with a comfortable king-sized bed, a sitting area with a couch and chairs, separate entry with two closets and makeup table, and, floor-to-ceiling windows that offered stunning views of the Las Vegas Strip. The bathroom was equally impressive, with a large soaking tub, a separate walk-in shower and two-sink vanity. The room also featured a variety of modern amenities, including two flat-screen TV’s (one for the bedroom and one for the seating area). Overall, it was the perfect retreat after a day of exploring Las Vegas.

DINNING OPTIONS AT VIRGIN LAS VEGAS

One of the standout features of the hotel is the numerous dining options available. The hotel has a range of restaurants and bars, each with its own unique atmosphere and menu. The Kitchen at Commons Club, the hotel’s signature restaurant, serves up delicious American cuisine with a modern twist. The restaurant’s design is equally impressive, with a mix of vintage and contemporary elements that give it a warm and inviting feel.

My favorite dining experience was at ONE Steakhouse, which is an upscale restaurant offering a sophisticated culinary experience. The restaurant’s menu features a range of classic steakhouse dishes, such as dry-aged beef, seafood, and salads, all made with the finest ingredients. ONE Steakhouse’s elegant interior design, featuring leather booths and wood accents, creates an intimate and luxurious atmosphere that is perfect for a romantic dinner or special occasion. With its prime location at the Virgin Las Vegas, ONE Steakhouse is a must-visit for anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience in the heart of Las Vegas.

The hotel also has several other dining options, including 24-hour room service, a coffee shop, and a rooftop bar that offers stunning views of the Las Vegas skyline.

AMENITIES AT THE HOTEL

While the pool area of Virgin Las Vegas was closed for the winter during my stay, this is definitely another highlight of the property. The pool is surrounded by lush landscaping and has plenty of loungers and cabanas for guests to relax and soak up the sun. The pool area also has a bar that serves up refreshing cocktails and snacks, making it the perfect spot to spend an afternoon.

Virgin Las Vegas has a variety of other amenities in addition to its restaurants and pool area. Here are a few highlights:

  • The Mohegan Sun Casino: The Virgin Las Vegas features a 60,000-square-foot casino operated by the Mohegan Sun. It offers a wide range of gaming options, including slot machines, table games, and a sportsbook.

One of the things that impressed me the most about the hotel was the attention to detail. From the stunning decor to the excellent service, everything about the hotel was carefully thought out and executed.

BEFORE IT WAS A VIRGIN

Before becoming Virgin Las Vegas, the property was known as the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The hotel first opened its doors in 1995 and quickly became one of the most popular spots in Las Vegas. The hotel’s rock-and-roll-themed decor and impressive collection of music memorabilia made it a hit with music lovers and tourists alike.

Over the years, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino underwent several renovations and expansions, including the addition of a new tower in 2009. However, by 2018, the property was showing signs of wear and tear, and it was time for a change. That’s when Virgin Hotels stepped in and acquired the property, with plans to transform it into a unique and exciting hotel that would appeal to a new generation of travelers.

The renovation of the property was a massive undertaking, with the entire hotel undergoing a complete overhaul. The goal was to create a hotel that was both luxurious and laid-back, with a focus on creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests. The result is a stunning property that seamlessly blends the history of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino with Virgin’s unique brand of hospitality.
