Arizona Restaurant Week
Throughout the Grand Canyon State of Arizona, foodies are celebrating the gastronomic pleasures that variety brings during the annual Arizona Restaurant Week (May 15th through the 25th).
This statewide affair offers a wealth of dining options, and an opportunity to try something new. From sizzling Southwestern food, to soothing comfort and five-star dining international fare, there is something for everyone. Most participating restaurants have special sample menus just for this event, so guests have a chance to try a variety of dishes.
On Friday evening I ate at a participating restaurant in central Phoenix called, Fuego Bistro. Fuego is a secret hideaway…literally. Unless you’ve been there before, you’d swear that no restaurant would be located in the ally-looking barrio. However, after you find a place to park and make your way toward the restaurant, you’re pleasantly greeted by a spacious courtyard and multi-room restaurant. Fuego is a hip and trendy little place serving Latin infused fare that will tantalize your taste buds.
As you can imagine by the images, there were leftovers that when home. Everything was delicious at Fuego’s Bistro and I can’t wait to go back to try some of the other menu items.
The next day I took part in the Urban Wine Walk, another Arizona Restaurant Week event held in downtown Phoenix. With map in hand, my girlfriend and I began our wine tasting journey that took place at 20 participating restaurants. Each restaurant supplied a wine tasting and an appetizer for either $2 or $3. It was a wonderful opportunity to try a lot of different wine, some even produced in Arizona.
