A West End Weekend: A 2-Day London Itinerary

You’ve decided on a weekend retreat to the beautiful capital of England. You are contemplating where to stay and what to do when you get there. You want to keep to a budget that won’t break the bank, but you want to appreciate as much as possible. It’s easy to get lost in the moment when visiting London, cramming so much in to an already tight schedule and spending money without concern.

With the incredible transportation system this stunning city possesses, it doesn’t matter what area of London you decide to base yourself,  you’ll certainly not feel isolated. If you’re traveling from the North of England, booking an Euston hotel will minimize how much traipsing around the Underground you will have to do. It’s far easier to book a hotel within proximity of your train station and explore at your leisure afterwards. Euston Underground is directly opposite, giving you easy access to anywhere you need go.

Day 1: Cultural Museum Tour & Shopping Delights

Take the Tube, via the Victoria line, from Euston to Victoria, switch onto the District & Circle and disembark at South Kensington. From here, you will have free reign of three of the best museums in the city. Take your time immersing yourself in the huge range of permanent and special exhibitions housed here and be fascinated by some of the facts and history. The V&A museum, Science Museum and the National History Museum are all within easy reach of each other, via an underground subway with clearly marked exits. Explore the history museum before stopping for lunch in the restaurant within its walls, which offers great tasting, fresh meals for attractive prices.

For the afternoon, head back the way you came, but jump off the Tube at Oxford Circus. From here, an astonishing array of high-end and high shops will be at your fingertips. From women’s fashion to mens shoes, whatever you need, you’ll be sure to find it. Treat yourself to a new outfit for your west end excursion the following day, or treat your kids to some awesome Disney merchandise from the incredible two-floor store.

Day 2: A West End Show, Dining Out & Trendy Cocktails

Organise your west end tickets before you head for London so that everything is arranged for your excursion. Head to your theatre of choice and catch a fantastic performance that will leave you spellbound. Wicked the Musical comes highly recommended, as does The Lion King and Ghost: The Musical. Depending on your personal tastes, there’s a show for everyone; from drama to musical and everything inbetween, the West End will have it.

Following the show, opt for a high-end restaurant such as the renowned The Ivy. Open late every day, it’s perfect for a post-show dinner. Head for cocktails on Leicester Square after your meal and relive the theatre you have just experienced, before heading back to your Euston hotel for the night.
