El Farolito Bed and Breakfast, a true Santa Fe experience
The El Farolito is conveniently located in the heart of Santa Fe, New Mexico and is within walking distance of many of the area’s attractions. You’re just minutes from the historic Central Plaza in one direction, in another…the newly developed Railyard, which has become a community focal point. Both areas are full of world-class restaurants and shopping. Art lovers will rejoice with the plethora of museums and art galleries, also within walking distance of the B&B.
When you first arrive at El Farolito, you feel as though you’re entering an authentic Santa Fe style compound, and in fact…you are. Several of the adobe structures on the property predate statehood, which was 1912. Not to worry though, the entire property was renovated and additions constructed in 1991.
Each of the eight rooms is distinctly furnished with local, handcrafted furnishings. The walls are adorned with original artwork, much of which is also represented by local artists.
Those who desire private accommodations will really appreciate El Farolito, all of the suites have separate entrances and many even have their own secluded patios (half have shared patios) in which to enjoy a morning cup of coffee. Seven of the rooms also have real-wood burning fireplaces…one comes with gas (note: use of the wood-burning fireplaces are seasonal).
El Farolito is owned and run by Walt and his partner Wayne; the two have owned the property since 1997 and are the most hospitable of hosts. Their knowledge of the area and its history and architecture will make your stay all that much more enjoyable. From my experience, anyone owning a successful B&B for as long as Walt and Wayne have, speaks volume and is a testament to their success.
Breakfast at El Farolito is served up buffet style—offering home baked goods, three types of coffee, fresh fruit, yogurt, oats and a featured hot entrée, like a frittata or quiche . If you have any dietary restrictions, the staff is more than happy to try and accommodate. The breakfast area is cozy with individual tables that lend themselves to intimate conversations, or lively discussions with other guests. On those warmer spring and summer days, guests are invited to enjoy the beautiful patio with the soothing sounds of water flowing from the fountain in the corner.
Adjacent to the breakfast area is a warm and inviting common area for guests to mingle and/or relax. There is a computer available with a library of books and magazines, and, like the individual rooms, there are many pieces of original art to enjoy. As afternoon arrives, so do an array of cookies and other refreshments.
