A reunion in Peoria

My main motivation for coming to Illinois was for the Travel Media Showcase conference in Rockford, IL.  I arrived in the state several days prior to the start of the show, so I reached out to some family members in Peoria, IL that I’ve not seen in more than a decade.  My aunt and uncle enthusiastically welcomed me into their home…we ended up having an amazing visit. I am so grateful to have been reunited with them after all this time and learned that we have a great deal in common. During my visit we went to their son’s home (my cousin) for a BBQ where I got an opportunity to meet and hang out with his wife and two lovely children.

I have so many fond memories as a kid hanging out with this side of my family…I’m looking forward to creating new memories moving forward. I plan to make a concerted effort to make sure another decade does not pass before seeing my kin.

My question for you is…do you feel remiss for loosing touch with any of your family members?
