Tunica Riverpark & Museum

In Tunica, Mississippi there is a stunning architectural structure resting on the eastern banks of the Mighty Mississippi—keeper of all things having to do with the river, it’s home to the Tunica RiverPark & Museum.

The Tunica RiverPark is an interpretive center overlooking the River. The museum is filled with authentic artifacts and exhibits, showcasing the history, nature and culture of the Mississippi River and Delta region. Visitors will enjoy the 48 foot high observation platform that provides stunning views of the river in both directions. Visitors will also find four large aquariums with native aquatic life, area wildlife, and information on the levee system.

The Garden Terrace and promenade walk, lead to a two mile nature trail that is nestled within 130 acres of hardwood forests. The trail follows the river over the wetland area and into the woods behind the levee. This area is considered a “wildlife refuge” and a variety of wildlife are often observed from the trail.

For those interested in a river tour, the Tunica Queen offers passengers an hour-long cruise during the weekends. This 300 passenger riverboat vessal sails from a floating dock in front of the RiverPark Museum and offers a variety of excursions, including a dinner cruise.

After a day of exploring, visitors may want to take advantage of the 200-foot long covered porch that faces the river. This is a very relaxing spot to sit in one of the rocking chairs and view barges and other river traffic float by.
