Hangzhou Global Tour: Day 23
Since we arrived so late to the hotel here in Paris due to our canceled flight from Geneva and long train ride, we didn’t get out of the hotel to sightsee until 11am. We arranged a local tour guide to show us around the Notre Dame area, which reminded me of when I was last in Paris—some 19 years ago…nearly to the day!
If you’ve ever been to Notre Dame, you may be aware of a marker in front called “Ground Point.”, which apparently is the center of Paris. Legend has it, that if you jump in the air and both feet land on the marker, then you are destined to return to La Ville Lumière (City of Light). Well, it must be true, because here I am!
One of the items on my girlfriend Terri’s bucket list is to kiss in front of the Eiffel Tower—so, I once again jumped on the Ground Point marker and video recorded the event in hopes that one day I can scratch this item off of Terri’s list.
After an abbreviated tour, we went to a lovely brasserie for lunch. Afterwards, we went to the Paris Chinatown for some sort of meeting with local Chinese leaders. Unfortunately, I really haven’t a clue what it was all about because it was conducted entirely in Chinese, with the occasional English interjection. There must have been 75-100 people in attendance and it felt sort of like an Elk’s Lodge or the like. We experienced a traditional tea ceremony along with a bit of live music and then we were off to the hotel where we had a bit of free time.
